The Norrbotten Chamber Orchestra was founded to perform music by the best of classical composers as well as brand new works by contemporary composers. This CD presents a selection of works that the Norrbotten Chamber Orchestra has commissioned over the years. All of the composers represented have connections with Norrbotten, the vibrant, northerly province of Sweden with its magic nordic light. Included are e.g. Jan Sandstr m s contemplative arrangement of Praetorius "Es ist ein Ros entsprungen", Jan Ferm s suite "Norrbotten Rhapsody" (composed for Norrbotten Chamber Orchestra and the folk music group JP Nystr ms) and Bo Nilssons exciting work "Wiesenbl mchen".
